Picton is full of pets and even holiday makers bring their pets with them.
Marlborough District Council. If you are here to stay you should transfer your dog registration to Marlborough within 6 weeks. The Picton Library can deal with council matters including dog registration. Annual reg is due end July each year.
Ensure your pet has a working microchip incase is gets confused and lost. We can check it at the clinic.
There are plenty of walks where you can take dogs —- look at the Marlborough district council website… www.marlborough.govt.nz. for off- leash places you can run your dogs. Remember dogs are only allowed on lead and only on paved pathway of foreshore to get from ferry to water taxis.
Ensure that you clean up after your dog. It is a simple act that shows responsibility and respect for others using the park. A simple bread bag or even shopping bag can be used , placed over your hand like a glove then pulled down over the droppings you have picked up then scured with a knot till you find a bin. Some parks even have bag dispensers! This will avoid the $300 fine if you are caught ( photo is sufficient ) not picking up after your dog! ( so take a bag… its not that hard)
